President Trump on Monday urged Americans to avoid gatherings of 10 people or more as he warned that the coronavirus may not subside until the summer, admitting for the first time that the situation is “bad” — bleak terms marking a stark reversal from his previous calm.
“I have spoken, actually, with my son,” Trump said, personalizing the outbreak with an anecdote about his youngest, 13-year-old Barron.
“He says, how bad is this? It’s bad. It’s bad,” related Trump. “But we’re going to — we’re going to be, hopefully, a best case, not a worst case. And that’s what we’re working for.”
