It’s not just young guns like Miles Teller and Glen Powell jumping aboard “Top Gun: Maverick.”
Jon Hamm, 47, and Ed Harris, 67, have joined Tom Cruise and the cast of the “Top Gun” sequel, according to a person familiar with the casting but not authorized to speak publicly about it.
No further details were available about what roles the “Mad Men” actor Hamm, and “Westworld” villain Harris will take on.
“Top Gun 2” is due to start production in September.
With Cruise done with promoting “Mission: Impossible — Fallout,” casting for “Maverick” has kicked into higher gear — including the pilots under the guidance of Cruise’s flight instructor Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
The casting includes the first female pilot played by “Chicago Justice” star Monica Barbaro, announced Tuesday.
Teller will play the hotshot pilot son of Maverick’s former Radar Intercept Officer Nick “Goose” Bradshaw (Anthony Edwards). Powell will also play a cocky pilot.
