Blink and you’ll miss the meeting of two of the greatest women of Westeros.
During Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, HBO aired a commercial showing glimpses of 2019 programming, including a (very) brief look at the eighth and final season of its biggest-ever hit, “Game of Thrones.”
Mixed in with clips from “Barry” and “Big Little Lies” were two short clips from “Thrones.” The first shows the Night King riding his new ice dragon, which didn’t tell us much that we didn’t already know.
But the second is more interesting. Forty-one seconds into the spot, we see Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) arriving in Winterfell and meeting Sansa (Sophie Turner), who offers her allegiance. “Winterfell is yours, your grace,” she says.
Does that mean that Jon has given up his claim? And that he and Daenerys are still romantically involved, even though they’re secretly aunt and nephew? Is this all we have to go on until “Thrones” returns in April?
As Ned Stark would say, Season 8 is coming. Eventually.
