Lyric McHenry, who appeared on the E! reality series “EJNYC,” passed away in New York City Tuesday, according to reports from CNN and The Hollywood Reporter.
The New York Police wouldn’t confirm the victim’s identity to USA TODAY, but did say that a 26-year-old female was found “unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the sidewalk” in the Bronx area shortly after 5 A.M. She was rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where she later died.
An investigation is currently underway and her cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner, according to the NYPD. “There were no obvious signs of trauma observed,” the statement added.
McHenry’s family released a statement to People magazine that confirms the reality TV personality’s death: “Lyric’s warmth, compassion and energy will be missed by many and the family would appreciate that all speculation surrounding the circumstances of death cease until the real facts are determined.”
McHenry appeared on “EJNYC” with longtime friend Earvin “EJ” Johnson III in 2016.
The show, which ran for one season, followed the life of Johnson and his friends in New York City. Johnson is the openly gay son of basketball legend Magic Johnson.
Last week, Johnson sent birthday wishes to his “best friend who has strutted with (me) in princess gowns since day 1″ on Instagram.
