While the queens of ‘Six’ may not be reigning on Broadway or the West End, they managed to find a way to inspire their pandemic-panicked fans — by enlisting them in a music video.
A couple of weeks ago, the ‘Six’ Instagram account asked fans to sing part of a song that would be featured in a ‘Worldwide” mashup.
Little did they know that they would be joined by the former and current stars of the musical when the song aired.
From New York to London to Australia, all the way to the company on the Bliss cruise line, queens old and new gathered to sing the opening number of the show, which then transitioned to a supercut of all the fans singing.
Even writers Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss joined in the fun as special guests.
The video is raising money for The Actor’s Fund, Acting for others, Support act, all of which were set up to support actors, and other theatre personal during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The production, which opened on the West End in 2017, started out as Marlow and Moss’ college thesis project about King Henry VIII’s wives, and has since gathered an intensely loyal fanbase.
The Broadway production of the musical was slated to open March 12, the day that Broadway was shuttered.
