The Joker has finally revealed himself in his full hideous glory.
Director Todd Phillips showed off the first complete look of his “Joker” movie arch-villain Friday with a haunting video of his star Joaquin Phoenix — at first as his mild-mannered character Arthur with hands in pockets of his jacket covering a sweater, hair floppy. It starts much like the normal guy first-look image released last week.
But as “Laughing” by The Guess Who plays on the soundtrack, the scene shows images of the garishly made-up Joker flashing on Phoenix’s face, like a specter on a passing train.
Then the laughing villain Joker completely covers Phoenix’s Arthur.
Phillips (“The Hangover”) co-wrote the DC Comics film, which will hit theaters Oct. 4, 2019.
Warner Bros has described the film as a story of a normal man pushed to bad — “a man disregarded by society (that’s) not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.”
Robert De Niro plays a talk-show host who plays a part in driving Phoenix’s character to go mad and become the Clown Prince of Crime.
“Deadpool 2” star Zazie Beetz and “GLOW” actor Marc Maron are also part of the “Joker” cast.
Alec Baldwin was slated to star as Thomas Wayne, a Donald Trump-like father figure to Phoenix’s character, but Baldwin withdrew from the film.
