Netflix would like your 2019 to be just a little bit stranger.
The streaming service rang in the New Year with the news that the highly anticipated third season of “Stranger Things” will debut on July 4, nearly 16 months after the second season was released in October 2017.
Along with an official release date, Netflix also gifted fans with a poster for Season 3, which shows Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) holding hands near their friends as fireworks go off in the distance, with a surprise from the Upside Down creeping in on their fun in the foreground. The tagline reads, “One summer can change everything.”
Fans have gotten small peeks at Season 3 already, including a video showing Steve (Joe Keery) and new character Robin (Maya Hawke) working at a new Hawkins, Indiana, mall, and some tidbits from the official companion book, which establishes the new season is set in 1985.
