After recordinga bumper starton first day, Salman Khan starrer ‘Bharat’ continues to rule the box office. The film on its second day saw a dip in numbers but still collected Rs 30 crore.
According to a Box Office India report, ‘Bharat’ saw a dip of 30-35%, collecting Rs 28-30 crore on Thursday. The drop is more than expected as analysts had thought of a drop of 25 per cent, given its a weekday but the films holds well in overall collections at Rs 70-71 crore. The film remained steady even after it was leaked online.
It had collected close Rs 45 crore on day 1, becoming Salman’s biggest opener. The film also became the fourth highest opener ever and second biggest opener of 2019 following ‘Avengers Endgame’ which made Rs 53 crore on its first day.
The second spot is with Aamir Khan’s release ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ that started on a good note but crashed terribly. It earned Rs 52.25 crore on the first day of its release.
Salman, who was visibly happy with the result, took to Twitter to thank his fans for the love. He wrote, “Big thk u sabko fr giving sabse bada opening mere career ka par what made me the happiest & proudest is ki during a scene in my film jab national anthem is recited ev1 stood up as a mark of respect. There could be no bigger respect for our country than this… Jai Hind #Bharat.”
The film is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and stars Katrina Kaif, Sunil Grover, Tabu, Jackie Shroff, Sonali Kulkarni, Disha Patani in pivotal roles.
